Message from the Dean
Greetings from the Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences. As you read our e news you will note the many expressions of making a difference through our educational programs, research projects, and faculty and student contributions.
I am very pleased to announce the inaugural Harris Board of Visitors (BOV). With 24 members, the BOV met for the first time in February. Mr. Truitt Clinard, Executive Director of the Cancer Education and Resource Foundation of Texas, is the first chair of the BOV. The Board will help us make a difference by serving as advocates for the college and as links to the greater community for all of our programs. The BOV play an important role in assisting the Harris College to reach our Campaign for TCU financial goals.
The kick-off for TCU’s comprehensive fundraising effort, The Campaign for TCU, was held on April 3. The university’s goal is 250 million dollars. The Harris College is seeking funds for undergraduate and graduate scholarships, endowed faculty positions in each department and school, additional laboratories, equipment and facilities for our burgeoning student population, the Center for Healthy Aging, the Center for Obesity Research, and the bilingual speech-language pathology program. Funding these efforts propels us to the forefront in meeting critical health professional shortage workforce needs as well as creating solutions for the future. I ask you to thoughtfully consider a contribution to the Harris College. Your generosity will make a difference!
We have many accomplishments to share with you in this edition of e news. Please send us your news, s.hudson@tcu.edu, and we will include it in the next edition of e news. If you are on campus please stop by for a visit or feel free to email me, p.burns@tcu.edu. I am always happy to share our work and the differences we are making!
